The Craftsman Behind Tekton
Tekton Construction & Repair is a composite deck and fencing company based in Pleasant Hill, serving Eugene, Springfield and the surrounding Lane County communities. We’re a small, hands-on operation — which means the person who shows up to your consultation is the same person who builds your deck.

From Civil Engineering to Carpentry
When I was a little boy, I loved to build complex structures, whether it was with Lincoln Logs or Lego. I thoroughly enjoyed working with my hands. That love of building grew with me, and I went on to get a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
I worked for several years as a civil engineer, but it left me unfulfilled. It wasn’t hands-on enough for me. So I shifted over to carpentry. I enjoy the mathematical challenges as much as the physicality of the work — I wanted to build the thing, not just draw it.
That is why I started this business. My mission is to build beautiful things.
— John Paul Morton, Owner

Why the Name
Tekton is the Greek word for artisan, or craftsman. It is what the business is named after, and what it is measured against.
Who You Will Be Working With
Tekton is John Paul Morton, who owns the business and is on site for the work, and Dominic Olson. There is no rotating crew and no subcontracted stranger turning up on day three — the people who quote your project are the people who build it.

Why Tekton Construction Was Built This Way
Tekton was founded on a simple frustration: most deck contractors make homeowners guess. We built Tekton around fixed-price quotes, proactive communication, and a walkaround at the end before we call it done.
When you hire Tekton, you get us — present on your job site, accountable to you, and building to the same standard we’d want on our own homes.
The Tekton Standard — Five Pillars
Installation Discipline
Defined installation standards without shortcuts. Footings, spans and fastener patterns are specified before anyone picks up a tool, not judged by eye on the day.
Intentional Design Detail
Layout and finish are planned, not improvised. Board direction, border placement and where the seams land are decided in advance, because they are the details you look at for the next twenty years.
Long-Term Durability
Material selection based on longevity in this climate. Oregon’s wet winters and UV-heavy summers punish the wrong choices, and the wrong choice is usually invisible until the third year.
Fixed-Price Clarity
Clear scope before execution. Every board, fastener, joist and post cap is listed in the proposal, and if the scope does not change, the price does not change.
Professional Communication
Organized, calm process from start to finish. You will know what is happening on your project and who is doing it.
Our 5-Year Structural Guarantee
Every Tekton deck comes with a written five-year structural guarantee covering the structure we build — framing, footings, fasteners and connections. Decking and railing products carry their own manufacturer warranties on top of that.
